Fans to leave a billion euros in Ukraine?

The National Bank of Ukraine expects the fans of Euro-2012 to bring about 1 Billion Euros to Ukraine. "Our forecasts take into account the holding of Euro-2012. This event will allow us to receive an additional 1 Billion in revenues. Thus, a positive impact on Ukraine’s balance of payments", said Oleksandr Dubokhvist, director of the department of foreign exchange at the NBU.
During Euro-2012 the number of tourists coming to Ukraine will increase by 40% to 1 million people. This is what Yosyp Andryk, president of the Association of leaders of the tourist business in Ukraine, says.
"And we expect an increase in the arrival of tourists by 30-40%. First of all, this is due to Euro-2012. In 2012 there will be a unique opportunity in Ukraine to show its best side to European tourists. Preliminary estimates suggest that during the period of the championship nearly a million fans, both tourists and sightseers, will visit our country", Mr Andryk said.
